The problem is many hotels that claim to be “right on the beach” are, in fact, not on the beach at all. They are actually a few minutes’ walk down the road from the beach front. Quite often, your ‘breathtaking view of the Gulf’ will be obscured by other buildings that actually ARE located “right on the beach”. As a frequent traveler, I can tell you that there is nothing more unpleasant than arriving at your hotel and getting the feeling you’ve been had.

It is a must that you research and compare the so called “beach front” hotels in Destin. You need to find out exactly where the hotel is located and how far it is from the actual shoreline. One of the better examples of a beachfront hotel in Destin is the Edgewater Beach Resort near Miramar Beach. In their case, the term ‘beachfront’ is quite literal. You have unobstructed views with white sand right at your doorstep.

There is another important factor to consider when searching for accommodations on the beach in Destin. You need to find out where your condo is located and what direction it faces.
